To enable Google Play parental controls, you can use two primary methods: directly within the Google Play Store app or through Google Family Link.

To set parental controls within the Google Play Store app:

  1. Open the Play Store app.
  2. Tap your profile icon in the upper-right corner.
  3. Go to Settings.
  4. Select the Family section.
  5. Tap Parental controls.
  6. Toggle the switch to turn on parental controls.
  7. Create and re-enter a PIN.
  8. Tap Apps & games to set an age option (e.g., 7+ or 12+), then tap Save.
  9. For books, tap Books and check the box to Restrict sexually explicit books, then tap Save.
  10. Depending on your region, you might also have controls for Movies and TV.

Using Google Family Link:

Google Family Link is a broader tool that allows parents to set up parental controls across various Google services, including Google Play, for a child’s account. With Family Link, you can manage content filters, require approval for new apps, and set screen time limits. You can download the Family Link app or set up supervision online.
